Different kind of weekend...
Friday night was an amateur film fest with friends, followed by chicken & waffles (weirdly good!).
Saturday I helped gear shop but managed not to spend a dime (though I expect I'll be buying a new sleeping bag soon), then went to a one-year-old's birthday party (where the adults outnumbered the kids something like 8 to 1), then came home and did some camping planning for 2008.
Today I went to a food festival in Berkeley called The Spice of Life and had yumminess - latkes, pupusas, wine, grilled corn, gelato - the spice of life indeed!
Tonight I finally finished charting my money expenses from September. It's fun to eyeball them, to see roughly what percentage of my spending goes where. I think it'd be interesting to do a year's worth of spending at some point, as well, because for example my travel & charity expenses vary widely from month to month (usually quite low, with the occasional outpouring).
The first chart shows what is essentially discretionary spending, though it counts all food:
This chart shows all expenses (as above) but also includes all bills - rent, utility (electricity, landline/dsl, cell, insurance), and debt (car and school loans):
And this last one I'm happy with, because I included my retirement savings.

Cool for you for working on the charts. That's awesome. I'll probably do a year-end one down the road too. I've also thought about adding my bills/expenses into the pie & may run a different chart for that.
Glad it worked out for you!
nice display! Good for you for keeping track. One of these months I will emulate you ... maybe as an 08 resolution ...
I'm using a spreadsheet that uncagedbird sent me. I'm actually doing it in Open Office, but it came as an Excel spreadsheet. If I still have the email with the attachment I'll forward it to you.
Which book did you get this worksheet from? (Sorry if I'm asking questions that you've already answered elsewhere!)
Glad it works for you.
Oh, and I was cleaning and found your discs that I promised to send earlier this year. I'll get them in the mail soon, I promise!
